Christmas and giving what can’t be bought

Christmas

Here it comes again! And, Christmas can be understood more than one way.  Some of us will be welcoming the thought and others will dread it.  Often I have wondered what makes us feel either of these ways.  Everyone has their own strategy to approach the festive season and no one is left unmoved by it.

Some try to make it perfect; the decorations, the presents, the food, and the drinks.  So much advice around, all designed to help us make this year the best of all.

For others the sooner it is over and done with, the better.

So I wonder, what are we really looking for and hoping to find under the tree?

If we were writing to Father Christmas, what would be the one thing we could ask for, that would make us truly happy?

Could it be that what we are all hoping for, is to feel accepted, some sense of belonging and dare I say it, the proof we are loved?  Especially after the last year and a half of wondering if we will all be safe and able to hug the ones we love, it might just be essential.

It certainly looks that way, in all honesty that would do nicely for me, yes please, a big slice of that and wrap it up in some warm memories of time spent with my friends and family.

So this Christmas how about, not stressing so much about creating the dream through the things we buy, and give in abundance what can’t be bought.  That’s what I will try hard to do.  Merry Christmas to all.
