Bereavement and loss

Living with absence and change
Bereavement is most often associated with the death of someone important. Losing a person we love can be devastating, and adjusting to life without them can feel deeply disorientating. Grief can affect how we think, feel, and experience the world, sometimes leaving us feeling changed or unsure of ourselves.
We can also experience a strong sense of loss through major life changes. The end of a relationship, changes in family life, loss of work, health, or a future we had imagined can all carry a grief of their own. These experiences may not always be recognised as bereavement, but they can still have a powerful emotional impact.
Loss can bring many different responses, including sadness, anger, numbness, guilt, or confusion. There is no right way to grieve, and no set timescale.
Anniversaries, significant moments, or everyday reminders can bring feelings sharply back. Grief does not always look how others expect.
Counselling offers a steady, compassionate space to explore loss in all its forms. We work at your pace, helping you make sense of what has been lost and supporting you as you begin to find your way forward.
