Common Questions About Counselling at Hazelwood

Find clear answers to frequent queries about our counselling approach, session types, and what you can expect when you visit Hazelwood Counselling.

  • What types of counselling services do you offer?

We offer counselling for individuals, couples and families. Each way of working is a little different, but all provide a space to explore what is happening in your life, whether that feels clear or hard to put into words.

  • How do I choose the right counsellor for me?

Every counsellor has their own personality, experience and way of working. Reading their profiles is often a good place to start.  You can read the profiles on our meet the team page.

If you're unsure, get in touch. We'll talk through what you're looking for and help you decide who may be the best fit.

  • How do I book a session?

You can get in touch by phone or using the contact form on the website. We will come back to you to arrange a first appointment

  • What should I expect during my first counselling session?

Your first session is a chance to talk about what has brought you to counselling and to get a sense of how it might be helpful. There will be space to ask questions and begin to decide whether it feels like the right fit for you.

  • Are counselling sessions confidential?

Counselling sessions are confidential. This means what you share stays between you and your counsellor, with a few important exceptions relating to safety and legal responsibilities.  These are explained carefully before therapy begins.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or rearrange a session. This helps us offer the time to someone else.

  • Can I leave a review?

Yes. We always appreciate Google reviews if that feels right for you.

Please bear in mind that Google reviews are public. Your name (and, depending on your Google profile settings, your photograph) may be visible to others, so a review does not provide confidentiality.

If you would prefer to share your experience privately, you're very welcome to email us at letstalk@hazelwoodcounselling.co.uk. We value all feedback, whether it's shared publicly or directly with us.
