Family Therapy

When relationships feel strained or stuck
Families, in all their forms, can be a powerful source of support and belonging. They can also be places where tension, misunderstanding, or conflict arise, particularly during periods of change, stress, or loss. When difficulties persist, they can affect emotional wellbeing for everyone involved.
Family therapy focuses on relationships rather than individuals in isolation. It offers a space to explore how family members relate to one another, how patterns have developed, and how communication may have become difficult. The aim is to increase understanding, reduce conflict, and support healthier ways of relating.
Family therapy can be helpful at any stage of life and in many situations, including ongoing conflict, behavioural concerns, grief, or major transitions. It is not always necessary for the whole family to attend. Sometimes working with certain members is the most supportive approach.
At Hazelwood, we offer a calm, non-judgemental space where each person’s experience, and the way they express it, is taken seriously. Our work is balanced and respectful, avoiding blame or “sides”, and supporting families to find a way forward that feels fair and manageable for everyone involved.
